Square Footage Calculator
Floor area from rectangles you type. One room uses length and width. Several rooms go in the list, one pair per line. Output is ft², m², acres, and hectares. Estimate only. This is not a survey or code approval.

How to calculate square footage
- Pick the unit that matches your tape: feet, inches, yards, meters, or centimeters.
- For one rectangle, enter length and width. Leave the rooms box empty.
- For several rooms, put each as length and width on its own line, such as 12 14, and skip the single pair.
- Read square feet, square meters, acres, and hectares. Estimate only. This is not a survey or code approval.
Floor area
Sum of rectangles
| One room | length × width |
|---|---|
| Room list | Sum of length × width per line |
| Square meters | From the unit you picked |
| Square feet | m² / 0.09290304 |
| Acres | m² / 4046.8564224 |
| Not a survey | No bearings, curves, or legal description |
How floor area is summed
Each length and width converts to meters, then multiplies. Several lines add. Square feet divide m² by 0.09290304. Acres divide m² by 4046.8564224. Hectares divide m² by 10,000.
Square foot, acre, and room list
A square foot is an area unit. An acre is 43,560 ft². This page is rooms and rectangles, not a GIS polygon. Legal lot area is the land area calculator, which still is not a survey. Unit-only swaps: square feet to square meters.
Not a survey
Walls, closets, and stairs need judgment you apply before typing. Paint coverage is the paint calculator. Estimate only. This page does not certify floor area for a listing, a permit, or code approval.
Use cases
A bedroom takeoff, adding a hall as a second line, or converting a 12 by 10 ft room to square meters. L-shapes need two rectangles.
Limits
Each pair must be greater than 0. A rooms line needs two numbers. CZNull does not receive the numbers.
