How to estimate biking calories

  1. Select kilograms or pounds for body weight.
  2. Enter weight and how long you rode in minutes.
  3. Choose leisure, moderate, or vigorous cycling.
  4. Read session kcal and the MET the preset used.
  5. Compare with the general calories page if you need non-bike activities. Nothing is uploaded.

What the biking calorie page covers

This page keeps the same MET arithmetic as the general calories tool, but the intensity list is limited to cycling. You map a ride to leisure, moderate, or vigorous effort instead of scanning every sport preset.

How bike calories are built

kcal ≈ MET × body kg × hours. Leisure uses MET 4, moderate uses MET 6.8, vigorous uses MET 10. Duration in minutes is divided by 60 before the multiply.

Cycling MET and nearby tools

Entities include cycling MET, ride duration, and session kcal. The full activity menu lives on calories burned. Running sessions are on running calories. Day-level intake planning pairs with TDEE.

Use cases

Sketching burn for a commute versus a hard group ride of the same length. Teaching how intensity shifts MET while weight stays fixed. Filling a log when you lack power data. Not a race fueling plan.

Default numbers

At 70 kg for 60 minutes of moderate cycling (MET 6.8), kcal ≈ 6.8 × 70 × 1 = 476. Leisure at MET 4 yields about 280 kcal for the same hour.

Limits

Hills, wind, drafting, and bike mass are not fields. Indoor trainers with watts will usually disagree. Informational only. See the disclaimer. CZNull does not receive ride data.

Biking calories questions

Which intensity should I pick?
Use leisure for easy spinning, moderate for a steady ride you can talk through, and vigorous for hard efforts that leave you breathing heavily.
Does bike type change the formula?
No. The page only changes MET through the three intensity presets. Frame weight and e-assist are not modeled.
How is this different from the general calories page?
Same equation, shorter intensity list focused on cycling so search visitors land on bike-specific inputs.
Can I enter power in watts?
Not on this form. Convert a trainer session to a MET override on the general calories page if you already know a MET.
Why is my smartwatch higher?
Many watches fold in heart rate and elevation. This page multiplies table MET by kilograms and hours only.
Is the result medical advice?
No. It is arithmetic for planning and curiosity, not clinical counseling.
