Army Body Fat Calculator
Estimate body-fat percent with the Hodgdon / DoD circumference method, then compare it with an AR 600-9 age-group maximum sketch. Metric tapes convert to inches inside the math. Informational, not an official accession or retention tape.

How to estimate Army body fat
- Choose US or metric units so height and tape fields match.
- Select sex, enter age (17 to 62), height, neck, and waist or abdomen.
- Enter hip when the female formula is selected.
- Optionally add weight to see lean and fat mass at the estimated percent.
- Compare the percent with the listed age-group max sketch. Nothing is uploaded.

What the Army body fat page shows
You get a circumference-based body-fat percent in the same math family as the Navy method, plus a sketch of published age-group maximums used for teaching AR 600-9 style comparisons. Commands still use trained measurers and current regulation tables.
How the percent and max are built
Male: 86.010 × log10(abdomen - neck) - 70.041 × log10(height in) + 36.76. Female: 163.205 × log10(waist + hip - neck) - 97.684 × log10(height) - 78.387. Age selects a max sketch (for example male 17-20 max 20%, female 28-39 max 34%). Pass/fail on this page is that comparison only.
Circumference fat and related jobs
Entities include Hodgdon percent, tape sites, age-group max, and optional lean mass. The Navy-labeled sibling is Navy body fat. Typed-percent splits live on lean body mass. Whole-body index without tapes is BMI.
Use cases
Practicing tape arithmetic before an official weigh-in. Classroom demos of log10 circumference formulas. Comparing a Navy page result with the Army max sketch. Not a substitute for unit SOP or medical evaluation.
Default numbers
Male, age 28, 5 ft 10 in, neck 16 in, abdomen 35 in: percent follows the male Hodgdon equation above. Age 28 sits in the 28-39 male band with a 24% max sketch on this page.
Limits
Tape placement errors dominate. Regulation tables change; this page is a sketch. Informational only, not accession authority. See the disclaimer. CZNull does not receive tape data.
