What Mosteller BSA is

Mosteller BSA is the square root of (height in cm times weight in kg divided by 3600), in square meters. The default 170 cm and 70 kg is about 1.82 m2. The page also prints Du Bois and Haycock, which can differ by a few percent.

Height, weight, and the three formulas

Height and weight use the same metric or US controls as BMI. Mosteller is common in teaching. Du Bois is an older adult formula. Haycock is often used in pediatrics in clinics. This page still does not apply pediatric dosing rules.

How US units convert

Pounds convert with 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg. Inches convert with 1 in = 0.0254 m, then to cm. Inches of 12 or more add into total height, same as the BMI page.

Note

Informational, not medical advice. Do not use this page to dose chemotherapy or any drug. Formulas disagree, and clinics pick one on purpose. See the disclaimer. CZNull does not receive height or weight.
