How to sum series resistors

  1. List each resistance in ohms, separated by commas or spaces.
  2. Use at least two positive values. Zero-ohm jumpers are not modeled here.
  3. Read total ohms and the count of resistors parsed.

Series addition rule

Resistors in series share one current path. Their resistances add. The default triple 100, 220, and 330 Ω totals 650 Ω. Power dissipation still depends on current through each part; this page only sums ohms.

Series vs parallel

Parallel resistors combine with reciprocals. Series is the simpler sum. Use the parallel page when branches share the same two nodes.

Not a voltage divider by itself

Two series resistors divide voltage, but this URL only totals ohms. For a split from a known supply, open voltage divider.

How do I enter three resistors in series?
Type them comma-separated, such as 100,220,330. Spaces also work as separators.
What is the total of 100, 220, and 330 Ω?
650 Ω. The page adds them as plain series resistors.
Can I use E12 values only?
Yes. Enter any positive ohm values you measure or read from labels.
Does series change current?
Total resistance sets current with Ohm's law for a given supply. This page returns the sum only.
Where is parallel combination?
Reciprocal sum is on parallel resistance, a separate URL so inputs do not mix.
