Volumetric Weight Calculator
Volumetric weight is box volume in cm³ divided by a divisor you pick. Common air divisors are 5000 or 6000. Optional actual kilograms yield a chargeable mass as the larger of actual and volumetric. Not a carrier quote.

How to compute volumetric weight
- Enter length, width, and height of the packed box. All three must be greater than 0.
- Pick the length unit. The engine converts the box to cubic centimeters.
- Pick a divisor. 5000 and 6000 cm³/kg are common air figures. 4000 is a denser factor some lists use.
- Optional: type actual kilograms. Chargeable mass is the larger of actual and volumetric. Confirm the divisor with the carrier. Not a quote.
Dimensional (volumetric) weight
cm³ / divisor, optional chargeable mass
| Volume | L × W × H converted to cm³ |
|---|---|
| Volumetric kg | cm³ / divisor |
| Default example | 50 × 40 × 40 / 5000 = 16 kg |
| Divisors on the form | 5000, 6000, or 4000 cm³/kg |
| Chargeable | max(actual kg, volumetric kg) when actual is typed |
| Advice | Not a carrier quote. |
What volumetric weight is
Carriers often charge the larger of actual mass and a dimensional mass so light, bulky boxes still pay for space. Dimensional mass is volume divided by a published divisor. This page uses cubic centimeters. Material density of a homogeneous solid is the density calculator, a different job.
How this page computes kg
Each edge converts to centimeters (mm × 0.1, m × 100, in × 2.54). Volume cm³ is the product of those three edges. Volumetric kg = cm³ / divisor. If you type a positive actual mass, chargeable kg is max(actual, volumetric). The default 50 × 40 × 40 cm at 5000 is 16 kg.
Divisors, girth, and carrier rules
Air freight lists often use 5000 or 6000 cm³/kg. Some domestic ground products use inch-pound divisors such as 139 or 166 that this select list does not offer. Girth, irregulars, and oversize fees are extra. A quote needs the carrier's current tariff, origin, and destination.
Use cases
A packing sketch before you ask a forwarder which divisor they use. A homework check of 50 × 40 × 40 at 5000. Not a shipping label and not a billed invoice.
Limits
Edges must be greater than 0. Blank actual kg skips chargeable. No live tariff. No girth. CZNull does not receive the sizes.
