How to estimate trip fuel cost

  1. Enter the trip distance and choose miles or kilometers.
  2. Enter fuel economy as US miles per gallon or as liters per 100 km.
  3. Type the price per US gallon or per liter. The page does not load a live pump price.
  4. Read fuel needed and trip cost. Nothing is sent to CZNull.

How trip fuel cost is computed

Distance converts to miles. Economy converts to US mpg. Fuel in gallons is miles divided by mpg. Liters use 3.785411784 liters per US gallon. If you entered L/100 km, mpg is 235.214583 divided by that figure. Cost multiplies volume by the price unit you picked.

Fuel economy, US gallon, and trip cost

US mpg, L/100 km, the US gallon, and a typed unit price are the entities on this page. UK mpg is not the input. Open the mpg calculator when you know distance and fuel used and want economy, not spend.

Typed price, not a pump feed

Enter the price you saw or plan to pay. CZNull does not fetch station prices or taxes. This page is not the fuel unit converter. Pair a drive time with speed, distance, and time.

Use cases

Road-trip budgets, comparing a highway mpg figure to a city L/100 km sticker, and converting a liter price to a gallon trip. Idle, hills, and cargo are not modeled.

Limits

Distance and economy must be greater than 0. Price can be 0. Invalid input shows in the status line. Figures stay in this tab.

Fuel cost questions

Does this page upload my numbers?
No. The formula runs in the page you opened. CZNull does not receive the values.
Is the price a live fuel quote?
No. You type the price per gallon or per liter. There is no station feed.
US gallon or imperial gallon?
US gallon, 3.785411784 L. UK mpg is a different unit. Use the mpg page for that note.
How does L/100 km enter the gallons math?
The page converts L/100 km to US mpg with 235.214583, then divides miles by that mpg.
Is this the fuel unit converter?
No. This page costs a trip. It does not convert a fuel volume from one unit to another as its main job.
Can I treat the result as official?
No. Real consumption and taxes differ. Use the page to check the arithmetic.
