What this estate tax page does
Many teaching examples treat estate tax as a single rate on the amount above an exemption. This page implements that sketch. Progressive brackets, marital deductions, and state pickup taxes are outside the form.
Formula
Taxable amount = max(0, estate - exemption). Estimated tax = taxable × (rate / 100). Estate after tax sketch = estate - tax. If the estate sits under the exemption, tax is zero.
